Stuart Hillard Open Day at Pinhole Quilting Pershore Showroom

We were delighted to open the doors to existing Handi Quilter longarm owners, prospective longarm quilters and keen local quilters on a beautifully warm July Monday. There was definitely no requirement for a quilt as a method of keeping warm! 

Handi Quilter Ambassador Stuart Hillard provided an entertaining and informative talk about his own quilting journey through his many quilts that he showed throughout the two sessions in the morning and afternoon.


There is always the constant of humour in Stuart's stories and there was a lot of laughter!

Stuart described how the Handi Quilter Avante longarm with Pro-Stitcher, Handi Quilter's computerised quilting system, revolutionised Stuart's ability to be able to finish quilts quickly and easily. There were examples of quilts that Stuart demonstrates on TV that he literally designed, pieced and quilted in 8 hours. That would be a challenge without a longarm.

Stuart started with the Handi Quilter Avante with Pro-Stitcher in January 2014 which he upgraded to an Amara with Pro-Stitcher in January 2022. He explained how the deeper throat space of the Amara together with the faster speed meant being able to reduce the time it takes to quilt each quilt.

After Stuart's entertaining talk customers had the opportunity to try out the various longarm machines and shop for threads including Glide Thread and accessories.

The feedback has been wonderful. We're looking forward to seeing Stuart back at our showroom for another Open Day on the 19th November 2022. Bookings will open in September.

How a stitch is formed. Understand skipping stitches and shredding on a longarm machine.

Shredding Thread, Skipped Stitches and Stitch Formation - Explained by Liz Holpin, Pinhole Quilting There is nothing more frustrating than when you're quilting along and you find your thread is skipping stitches, the thread is shredding or breaking. It can really affect your quilting mojo!  You check you thread and your needle and can't find out what is wrong. Longarm Classes with Handi Quilter Ambassador Telene Jeffrey

We were delighted to welcome International Handi Quilter Ambassador Telene Jeffrey , otherwise known as Lady Jane Quilting, to our Pinhole Quilting Showroom for two fabulous sets of workshops in October 2022. From the results that have been posted since the workshops took place it is clear how much was learnt and put into practice. Telene hadn't visited the UK before (aside from a day in London when she was a student) so we took the opportunity to show her some beautiful parts of the Worcestershire and Gloucestershire countryside while she was here taking in Chipping Campden, Pershore and Broadway.  I'm hoping that we'll some of that inspiration in future designs, as based on the number of photographs being taken, that is almost certainly going to happen!
